Beauty and wonder in the time of Corona
Beauty and wonder in the time of Corona …. In this dark and uncertain time, it is so very easy to drown in a sea of fear, panic, confusion and despair and it is often difficult to feel like doing those things that alleviate anxiety (especially photography) - in particular night photography.
A few nights ago, I setup the tripod on a dark shoreline to shoot a unique sky … as the pillar of the Milky Way embraced Mars, Saturn and Jupiter, the moon rose out of a clouded horizon casting its reflection across the Bay, and the rhythmic flashing of the Point Perpendicular Lighthouse signalled safe harbour.
Standing for 2 hours with just the sound of waves washing the shore, watching until the eastern sky turned pink with the approaching dawn - for a time confusion and doubt were gone as the technicalities of camera settings and composition became a meditation.
These days will pass .... and fears will fold away.
